Odindisa blends the strength of breed purpose with the legacy of knowledge and passion. Modern technology is embraced to ensure the highest standards of health and quality are upheld.
Odindisa appeals to people seeking well-bred and well-raised dogs fit for purpose. Odindisa ethically preserves and enhances Swedish Vallhunds, contributing to the genetic base and guarding against extremes.
The focuses are prioritised as:
Health
Temperament
Conformation
The dog's health is what YOU, the owner, will be living and dealing with. I want you to have a healthy dog that does not need numerous vet visits.
I can then focus on ensuring a great temperament. Careful selection of the parents ensures a great base temperament, which is enhanced by socialisation, Puppy Culture methods, and your input while raising your puppy.
Lastly, I can fine-tune conformation. The foundations of Odindisa are based on dogs that have attained Champion status in the discipline of conformation, demonstrating they meet the breed standard under the scrutiny of many judges
Puppies are handled immediately after birth and during their development, incorporating the 'Super Dog Program' practices and bio sensor stimulation exercises, guided by Puppy Culture protocols.
Puppy Culture is a complete program from whelping box to new home that is scientifically proven to greatly improve outcomes for puppies and includes:
Early Neurological Stimulation
Puzzles and Problem Solving
Active vs Passive Challenges
Clicker and Crate Conditioning
Emotional Resiliency Exercises
Sound-Proofing Puppies
Toilet training
The breeding of Vallhunds at Odindisa is guided by the aims of Specialklubben för Västgötaspets (Specialty Club for Västgötaspets) (SKV):
"Raise interest for and promote breeding of sound, mentally and exteriorly good specimens of Swedish Vallhund as well as preserving the specific characteristics and attributes of the breed."
SVK notes it is extremely important to manage all of the breed's breed-typical attributes and not to change or refine it, neither externally nor mentally. The breed is healthy with an old cynological heritage. Many Västgötaspets live to be 13–14 years or older with maintained vitality. Odindisa strives for the breed to remain the healthy, robust and natural dog it has always been, namely a dog breed without exaggerations.
Like SKV, Odindisa strives towards:
Health and genetic variation
Mentality: Lively and attentive (not hot). Bold and fearless (without a tendency to timidity or fear, not overly attached to the driver). Sansad (ability to relax between tasks).
Usability: Interest in independent work (high initiative). Ability to concentrate (for individual tasks). Mobile and durable (can move freely in different gaits for a long time - not rough and clumsy). Herding law (interest in herding).
Appealing exterior: Corresponding to a good or very good breeding result; EX, VG or G in quality assessment or Excellent type, Very good type and Good type in exterior description.
